When you become a parent, everything becomes your fault. Your kid gets the common cold? Somehow your fault for not making them wash their hands enough. You put vegetables on their plate? Somehow your fault for ruining dinner. You buy them a new pair of shoes? Somehow your fault that they're a little bit too tight and they have a meltdown. They have issues opening up to people as they become adults? Somehow your fault for not showing enough affection when they were kids.
Every problem the child runs into can be blamed on some failure on the parent's end. It's part of the job. It's also part of the job to take it on the chin and let it roll off your back.
